Feeling Like A Tourist: Being Black In New England

Debra Nunnally Beaupre loves exploring New England’s picturesque back roads. But she says she doesn’t always find it easy to travel there.

I live in New England. Everyone likes to think of themselves as being very progressive and anti-racist but it’s actually one of the most racist places in America. It’s all right below the surface.
