This happened yesterday
For the past few days my lips have been so chapped they’ve started to crack open, particularly the left corner. I guess when I put chapstick on I tend to forget the corners so the left corner got so dried out, it split open and now looks like a tiny butt crack on my mouth. This crack keeps reopening b/c I wear a retainer, like the sexy 32 year old I am, and every time I remove it and put it...

I PULLED A CORAL
I was just a certified bitch to someone on the phone and it felt AMAZING! For the record, she deserved it and this sort of stuff doesn’t come naturally to me. Usually my heart races and my mouth gets all dry and I’m way too emotional to be firm, steady and in control but today, TODAY!, I was ready. I started talking and once I sensed her bullshit levels rising I channeled Coral from...

Our musical guest this month is the Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library - “the world’s only male-fronted, all-female, librarian-attired, downtempo, indie, ensemble-pop act featuring intricately constructed, tongue-in-cheek tortuous songs with an emphasis on narrative.”

That time I was in SF
It bothers me that I can’t remember how many times I’ve been to SF. And since I’m depressed, like plastic-bag-floating-in-the-wind-depressed, I will try to write it all down now b/c most of my SF trips have been great. None of this will be interesting to anyone else but me so scroll on if you wish. The best way I can remember my trips to SF is by trying to recall the places...

folkinz.: some things. →
folkinz: Today, exactly 5 months ago, I was laid off. Totally accepting job offers or tips if you have them. I’ve started watching The Sopranos and am almost finished with season one. I have two more episodes to finish tonight and then maybe I’ll recap it or something. IDK. What I do know is that I… I got a year (Saturday) on you so here are lesser known (yet still vital) job tips:...

folkinz: Do you ever do something that you don’t tell anyone else that you’re doing? I don’t mean like murder or armed robbery, although maybe talking about those things isn’t the best idea either, but normal things like going on a date or having a job interview or whatever normal things people do. I had… All the time.

Drive
lisahanawalt: Here’s my illustrated response to the movie Drive, starring Ryan Gosling. Read it on The Hairpin! I like Ryan Gosling. I liked him in The Notebook, Half Nelson, Lars and the Real Girl, and Google Image Search. And driving around LA at night while listening to pop music is my favorite thing on Earth, so seeing Drive was a no-brainer. WARNING: CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS Read...

My 3-Cornered Love
One of America’s greatest heroes has fallen today. Inventor of Doritos, Arch West (what a great fucking name!), has died at the age of 97. Back when I was reppin’ childhood obesity before it became A Thing, I loved putting Cool Ranch Doritos in my fried bologna sandwiches. And for years me and CRD were inseparable up until I discovered these: Spicy yet subtly tempered with a hint of...

Feeling Like A Tourist: Being Black In New England... →
letthetruthlaugh: npr: Debra Nunnally Beaupre loves exploring New England’s picturesque back roads. But she says she doesn’t always find it easy to travel there. I live in New England. Everyone likes to think of themselves as being very progressive and anti-racist but it’s actually one of the most racist places in America. It’s all right below the surface. Agree with all of the above.
